Donations

Hello Everyone,

I am so happy to see our site growing and evolving as it is, and us with it. It is a great feeling and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
With our growing success I have been experiencing some material drawbacks, such as hosting fees/ server capacity, etc; so I have been looking for ways that we can raise money to keep the site up and running.

On idea that I have been working on is a monthly donation system, the way that I would like to set it up would be to have each member donate $1/month to keep the site up and running. I think this is a reasonable amount and I would make it so you would only have to set it up once.

I wanted to throw it out the everybody and see what your thoughts where. This is still an idea in progress but I plan on implementing some sort of system.

How would you feel about this?

It is nice when someone who needs some help asks for a very small amount. I think even one dollar will possibly sit wrong with some...but I have no problem with it.

What is the best way to donate for you? Paypal...debit? Or something else?

What if I transfer funds into my paypal account and then pay you? No fees that way I think.

I am working on a system for it now, I think I will use PayPal... but I am trying to get it set up so that you will be prompted when you log in or first register on our site.

I am soo happy to see the site being used in such a beautiful and healthy way, I know I have grown so much and learned from my interactions...

I am just posting on this thread again because I thought it would be good to be transparent about what I am spending money on, but also to add a link to the new donations page, it's

but anyway, the expenses of running the site are not large, but I do spend a good deal of time working on it..

Hosting - $32/mo
Domain Name - $10/year
Software - I've spend around $350 so far on various tools

What I am looking at now is getting set up with MailChimp and an App Called Mandrill for that, which will help me to send out newsletters, and help me with mailing... that's around $50/mo, so I am going to hold off on that... but anyway, that's my spiel for now, I hope you can maybe find a way to donate a little, or if not thats fine. The site will stay up and online for many years to come
