I just moved to Texas from San Francisco and have not smoke any marijuana in over a month. i was an avid smoker back in the city, this is the longest ive gone without smoking since i become a stoner in High School over five years ago. Well, i cant sleep at night, i will stay up for hours just day dreaming and ive even tried to chant my way to sleep, citing Dhamma while in bed. I have also learned that i am one to get angry quickly with out being under the influence of weed. My anger has been getting better due to the teachings of Buddha (Praise Buddha), but the insomnia seems to get worse.

I know exactly how you feel, I have been sober from everything for 11months as of Today. There is a Solution!
The thing about substance abuse is that it is a temporary emotional fix, if you are feeling bad, sad, bored, angry, irritated etc. ; and abuse a substance, then the feelings go away, for a time. But the situations that caused those feelings still exist. I found that once I stopped using, a lot of old issues started to come back up, and you have to go through all of the feelings. Alot of my hesitation was fear of having the emotions, but they come and go, "this to shall pass" is a common saying for people who are in Recovery.
I HIGHLY recommend to start going to 12 Step meetings, visit several in your area... there is no paper to sign, no commitments to make, just people who have and are going through the same thing you are.
There are also some over the counter medicines that you might want to look into, Melatonin is a natural sleep aid, and 5-HTP is a natural precursor to serotonin in your brain which can help with emotional balance.
Also there are of Buddhists in the rooms, the main thing is just develop and trust your own spirituality.
Good luck my friend, you might also enjoy watching some of the videos that I have up on this site if you can't fall asleep, it's some mind blowing stuff!

Thanks for the advice as to using some OTC for insomnia, but as for joining a 12 step program, i dont think its that serious. Honestly i would still be smokin Marijuana if it was for the job requirements here in texas, most federal jobs that i apply for require a Disa Hair follicle, thus why i quite smokin. Smoking weed is actually what lead me to a more spiritual and purposeful life that im an trying to live now. In my eyes its a blessing, but the problem with it is that so many people of my generation tend to abuse, like i did. Ive learned that you should only smoke it occasionally, not all day everyday like i use to lol.
The night before last i had a very difficult time going to bed, so i decided to surf the internet, and i visited the video tab under this site, i watched the video on Astral Projection, and i decided to give it a shot. Well no luck yet, but i did end up in a real, real deep meditation that was refreshing and enlightening. Really wanting to experience astral projection for my self, ive been meditating quite often, and earlier today around noon i felt as if my soul, or whatever it be called was trying to escape my vessel but for some reason just couldnt, it was AMAZING. I was having a conversation with myself, but Im pretty sure it might have been past lives, or a guide or something. Im just going to keep trying, eventually ill have an OBE.

That's cool,
Astral projection usually takes some amount of practice, like anything else, to get really good at before it come easy.
What a lot of people, myself included, say; is to remove any expectation, and to let your conciseness naturally drift toward where it needs to go, we have more meaningful experiences that way. When we say that we want to have experience A or experience B, we take ourselves away from being open to infinite awareness and experience, which looks different to everyone
