I don't carry or own a gun or weapon of any sort. I never will. I do not agree with any violent action no matter what form it may take.

I see. So had you been in that theater at the time you would not have wanted a gun to protect yourself or the others?

I can honestly answer no. I would never use one.

Let me ask you this. If you came upon a women being mauled to death by pit bulls would you want a gun to shoot them?

Thanks, I do respect this position. Gandhi allowed himself to be shot to death and his only thought while he was dying was to forgive his shooter. I consider Gandhi to be very much my spiritual superior, but it's hard to rationalize that sort of thing.DamauriDreved wrote: I can honestly answer no. I would never use one.

Hi, I'm new here. I own a shotgun, and keep it loaded at all times. I live in the woods, and sometimes need meat, and the shotgun is my "dinner obtain-er" of choice. That being said, I take no life for granted. Each meal is a blessing, and should be treated with the utmost respect for life, for as one life passes to become a meal, it becomes life for another being. Not something we think about when a hamburger is so easily accessible. It definitely becomes real when you have to work for whats on your dinner plate.
The whole Colorado shooting at the theater made me sick. It became a media circus and a political statement, with no reverence to the survivors of the loved ones who were lost. No one will ever know why that boy did what he did. Thankfully his behavior isn't the norm.
Would I carry a handgun? No. It makes it too easy to shoot without thinking, and shoot with no consequences. I would have to think a long time about buying a hand gun. It would take a lot of humble, sincere, maturity for me to use one.

I totally agree that carrying a gun changes the way a person thinks. I never hunted before, but I know it's more humane than the way we treat our animals raised for slaughter. What neck of the woods are you from?
